UNDERSTORY 2027 REBUILD NOTES

Created May 2026 when the 2026 conference was cancelled and postponed to July 2027. This page is in the Not Linked section so it's invisible to the public. Below is everything that was hidden, disabled, or deferred — use this as a checklist when reactivating the site.

Pages to re-enable

The following pages were disabled (toggled off in Pages panel → page settings → Enable Page). To restore: open Pages panel, hover over each, click the gear icon, toggle Enable Page back on, save. After enabling, also drag each one back into the main navigation in the correct order.

  • Tickets

  • Speakers (currently labeled "Presenters" in some places)

  • Workshops

  • Schedule

Each of these pages still contains 2024 content. Review and update before re-enabling, or re-enable with a "Coming soon — 2027 program in development" notice.

Products to un-hide

All ticket products were set to Hidden in the Squarespace store. To restore: go to Selling → Products (or Commerce → Inventory), open each product, change visibility from Hidden to Visible, save. Update pricing, dates, and descriptions for 2027 before un-hiding.

Custom CSS to remove

A site-wide CSS rule was added that hides every button on the site. To restore all buttons: go to Website → Website Tools → Custom CSS and delete this block of code:

.sqs-block-button {
  display: none !important;
}

After deleting and saving, every button on the site will reappear in its original location. Buttons that were hidden include: "Get your Ticket Now" (hero), "BUY TICKETS" (bottom CTA), "More about the Experience," "Bios and Full Speaker List," "Resources" buttons.

Home page content to restore

The hidden duplicate page called "Home — 2026 Reference" (located in the Not Linked section) contains the original home page exactly as it appeared before the cancellation. Use it as a visual reference for what to rebuild.

Specifically:

  • The "JOIN US THIS SUMMER!" headline near the bottom was deleted. Restore by adding a heading block with appropriate 2027 wording.

  • The "Returning in July 2027" headline will need to be removed or replaced with "JOIN US JULY 2027" or similar.

  • The speaker name list ("Brooke Warner, Stuart Horwitz, Annie Tucker, Liz Hines, Grant Faulkner, Felice Laverne, Candice Mays, April Bosshard, Rachel Weaver, and more…") and Yosha Gunasekera's keynote bio reflect the 2024 conference. Update with the 2027 lineup.

Footer to update

Tickets and Speakers were removed from the footer navigation block. Footer originally contained: Home, The Experience, Speakers, Tickets, Resources. To restore: edit any page's footer, click the navigation block, re-check the Speakers and Tickets boxes. (Screenshot of original footer is saved in [folder name] for reference.)

Copyright year

The footer copyright line read "© 2026 Understory Park City." Update to the current year before re-launching.

Announcement bar (if added)

If a site-wide announcement bar about the postponement was added, remove it before relaunch. Found at Marketing → Announcement Bar (or Website Tools → Announcement Bar).

Final pre-launch checklist for 2027

  • All four pages re-enabled with updated 2027 content

  • All ticket products updated and set to Visible

  • Custom CSS button-hiding rule deleted

  • Home page rebuilt using "Home — 2026 Reference" as guide

  • Footer restored with Tickets and Speakers

  • Copyright year updated

  • Announcement bar removed (if applicable)

  • Email vendors, presenters, and prior alumni to announce 2027 dates

  • Test full ticket-purchase flow in incognito window before announcing publicly

  • Delete or update this notes page

A few suggestions for using this:

Save it as plain text in the page editor — no fancy formatting needed, since you're the only one who'll see it. As you make any additional changes to the site between now and 2027 (which you probably will), come back to this page and add notes. It's much easier to maintain one running document than to reconstruct your decisions from memory.

Also consider duplicating this same content into a Google Doc or notes app outside Squarespace, just in case. Belt and suspenders.
